W.O.W.
Wushu is an umbrella term used to describe all chinese martial arts. Yes, kung fu serves the same purpose, but since most chinese immigrants came before the cultural revolution they used gong fu and kung fu. During and after the cultural revolution wushu became more common, but when sport wushu was introduced most tradition was lost with more flashy routines. Now, most people use traditional and sport/modern as prefixes to differentiate the two. Tongbei, Mizongyi(traditional)are less flashy. Through this group I will introduce all aspects of wushu both traditional and modern and I will show you how to learn. I was introduced to wushu when I was 10 by my friend who taught me changquan. Then I was back to korean m.a. and kyokushinkaikan but something about the changquan made me want to learn more wushu both modern and traditional so when I was 12 I began to learn more but it will be a long time befor I'm on Jet Li's level.
