| About Me: | Martial arts has Always been my life, since even before I knew of it's existence, it knew of me. I began formally training at the age of nine in Isshin-Ryu Karate. Throughout my life I've had the opportunity to study several other styles. Among these styles were Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Haganah, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Iaido, and Aiki Jitsu. Based on my beliefs and philosophies in the martial arts and self defense I started a school of Seishi Do: The Way of Life and Death. More than an art or style, it's a concept and way of living. The self defense is more heavily concentrated on the mental aspects, but we do not disregard the valuable physical practices. We have no set style, only a structured method of learning. I will teach the body to move and the mind to react, rather than having the body mindlessly striking and moving. These reactions are great for animals, but the right to choose our reactions is what separates Man from Beast. A true master will first avoid conflict and only when it becomes necessary, choose the outcome of conflict and then make it happen. Through the Art of Death we learn to truly Live. ~Steven Epler |
